EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION PROGRAM
|
|
UCP’s Early Childhood Education program has served 177 children ranging from age 6 weeks through 12 years in the period from April through September 2008. We have maintained our NAEYC standards and continued to achieve Five Star - Gold Seal Accreditation through the Early Learning Coalition. We have maintained a teaching staff where 100% of our teachers currently hold a CDA (Child Development Associates Degree) or higher. Each classroom provides an educational program that is framed with a strong literacy, and social and emotional based curriculum while individualizing classroom instruction based on the individual needs of children both with and without disabilities.

DOULA PROGRAM

From April through September 2008, the Doula Program worked with 735 low-income, at-risk pregnant women. Childbirth education classes were held at 17 sites weekly and 735 girls attended class at various sites throughout the county. Additionally, doulas provided labor and delivery support to 199 girls during this time frame. We had a 98% client satisfaction rate, with regards to positive birth outcomes, bonding and attachment. After delivery, doulas provided follow up education and support at 487 postpartum home visits with clients and their new babies.

THERAPY PROGRAM

The therapy department has worked with over 200 children and families from the April to September of 2008. The results from our most recent client satisfaction survey revealed that respondents reported that they agree or strongly agree that they are satisfied with service quality. Respondents agreed or strongly agreed that they would recommend UCP to other parents. Families described our therapy staff as patient, friendly knowledgeable, upbeat, and positive.

CHILD CARE OUTREACH PROGRAM

From October 2007 to September 2008 Child Care Outreach serviced 108 children and 106 adults with physical and/or developmental disabilities, children who are medically fragile and children with severe and emotional issues. Child Care Outreach was also able to conduct 6 parent workshops for United Way and train 452 providers within Pinellas County. Some of the topics presented were Parenting Tips, Medical Night and Parenting Children with Behaviors. Parents, providers and consumers were very satisfied with results of the workshops.

SUPPORTED EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM

|
During the reporting period of April through September 2008, our Employment Program served 124 consumers with 116 of these consumers presently employed. We have placed three new Vocational Rehabilitation consumers in employment in this period. Utilizing United Way funding we have been able to implement an awareness campaign for employers that promotes the benefits of hiring people with disabilities.

RESPITE PROGRAM
|
|
From April through September 2008, the Respite Program worked with 366 persons with or at-risk for developing disabilities and experiencing barriers to independence and community inclusion. Our department has been 76% effective in meeting the services requested by clients admitted, and has received a 93% satisfaction rating from our clients as evidenced by the administration of our Client Satisfaction Surveys.
